About Margaret
Margaret has over twenty three years’ experience as a South Norfolk Councillor for Easton. Her main aim is to help solve local problems by acting as advocate for and supporting the local community. She enjoys being part of the community and she and her husband Terry can often be seen running childrens’ games at school and village fetes to help raise funds for local organisations.
She is now retired but Margaret’s working career involved supporting and inspecting play groups, nurseries, child minders and holiday play schemes on behalf of Norfolk County Council, followed later by inspecting for Ofsted.
Over the years she has served on many important committees including economic and community development, planning, Safer Neighbourhoods, licensing and scrutiny. She currently represents South Norfolk Council on the A47 Alliance and it was she that proposed the dualling between North Tuddenham and Easton which will commence in 2021.
She knows this will help reduce the rat running through the local country lanes. She is also a County Councillor responsible for community safety. She promotes arts and culture as contributors to health and wellbeing and which brings communities together. Her knowledge and reputation saw her nominated for a National ‘Heart for the Arts’ Award.
Margaret regularly attends Parish Council meetings to hear about local concerns and help resolve any problems. She also helps people identify grants and funding which could assist local organisations and support the community. Margaret has the proven enthusiasm, energy and commitment required to be a district councillor.
She cares about people and knows her local area well and will be an effective community champion for local people.
She says “Local people need someone to stand up for them on the local Council. As an experienced Councillor I am fortunate that I am in a position to get things sorted for local people in the local villages and I derive a great deal of personal satisfaction from helping those who come to me to solve their problems and I hope you will support me at the polls
