About Stephen
Stephen Ridley has lived in Great Moulton for 25 years with his partner Julie. He has two grown-up sons and three small grandsons. Having graduated in law from Kings College, London, he was called to the Bar and practised as a barrister in London and later in Norwich for over 30 years.
He currently holds the position of inhouse Counsel to a firm of insolvency practitioners in Norwich. Stephen is a professional public speaker and believes that he can put his advocacy skills to work for the benefit of the ward and wider district. Stephen is a keen amateur historian and has a particular interest in military history, his speciality being the Napoleonic wars. He has also in his time played bowls to a reasonable standard.
He is a keen member of the RSPB and both Stephen and Julie can often be found visiting various bird sanctuaries in Norfolk and Suffolk and further afield. Stephen has the enthusiasm, energy and commitment required to be a district councillor.
He says “Having spent the whole of my career in the law, I have come across people from all walks of life and have given practical advice on a wide variety of issues in order to solve their problems.” “I shall endeavour to use this extensive experience to the benefit of those who may require it in the ward.”
He believes that the provision of social facilities in our rural villages are of the greatest importance. He is anxious to see that the Village Halls which act as the social heart of rural settlements are maintained are given every assistance with any refurbishment. He cares about people and knows his local area well and will be an effective community champion for local people. He says “Local people need someone to stand up for them on the local Council and, if elected, I hope to be in a position to get things sorted for local people in local villages.” “I derive a great deal of personal satisfaction from helping those who come to me to solve their problems and I hope that you will support me at the polls on May 2nd.”
